A normal day can get by without you noticing it. One minute you wake while expecting to accomplish something, and the next thing you know, you’re back into bed. It’s especially the case when you’re too busy since you’ll have to push away your exercises.
But you must remember that you’re not always overloaded to get your workout in. In most cases, all you need to do is to try harder. After all, working out is a commitment, meaning you’ll need to put in both time and energy.
1. Schedule Your Workout Like an Appointment
Don’t think of your workout as something casual. Write your workout schedule at a specific time as if it’s another meeting or an office appointment. With that, you’ll feel like it’s more of a commitment—something that you can’t easily cancel at the last minute.
Look at your calendar at the start of the week and figure out the right time for you. Plan all other activities around it. Make sure not to push it aside unless it’s an emergency.
2. Wake Up a Little Earlier
Working out in the morning can give you more health benefits, as most studies found. In this case, you should try it out. If your work schedule gives you some leeway during the morning, start doing your exercises during that time.
It’s going to be tough at the start, but with commitment and consistency, you’ll adjust. The best part is that you’ll feel more refreshed since you’re working out before kids wake and your day-to-day activities creep up on you. It becomes an accomplishment before eating breakfast since you don’t need to think about it as the day progresses.

Find a workout you like the most, whether it’s boxing, swimming, or simple walks. Stick to it and maintain a consistent schedule. As long as you’re looking forward to it, you’ll have more motivation regardless of your schedule.

Does your spare time only involve hanging out with a friend? If so, you can always ask them if they want to become more active with you. This isn’t limited to the gym since there are lots of different physical activities out there.
You can ask them to go for a walk in the park or stroll through the mall while you run with your errands. In some cases, all your friend needs is a push for them to start getting fit. With that, you’re also unlikely to cancel since your friend holds you accountable for it.
5. Exercise at Home
Getting ready and taking a drive to the gym will take up a lot of your time. This can cause you to skip your workout since you’re more likely to feel unmotivated. If this keeps happening, it’s time to get rid of that gym membership and buy weights and other equipment for your home.
You can download a lot of apps that offer workouts at home. YouTube is a free source if you’re looking for a good place to start. In any case, you might find your exercises more manageable if you don’t need to leave the comfort of your home.
6. Try Short, High-Intensity Workouts
If you can, you should consider switching your workouts when you don’t have a lot of time. Opt for a shorter, high-intensity workout instead of your usual routine. This requires a lot of strength and can leave you sorer, but it’s effective.
For example, if you’re doing a 45-minute treadmill routine, you should switch it to a 15-minute HIIT workout instead. Always remember that your workouts don’t need to be long. In some cases, 15 minutes is all you need, as long as you’re pushing yourself.
