Seeing Fitness as a Chore is Just WRONG

Are you forcing yourself to go to the gym? And if you’re already there, do you mindlessly hop in the tread mill, put on your headgear, and just plug away, huffing and puffing until you finish your workout?

Don’t Look At It as A Duty

Looking at exercise as just part of your duty to be healthy and fit won’t do you any good in the long run. You might have started gung-ho in your fitness program, but eventually the dust settles and you’re now doing it as one of your rigmaroles in leading a normal life.

It’s time for you to ditch the ’30 minutes or bust’ attitude and resurrect that old gung-ho attitude when you first started going to the gym.

Set Your Priorities Right

Remind yourself of why you started your fitness program. Improving your general health is important. Getting a normal heart rate through various cardiovascular exercises is your goal. Doing some resistance training so that you can build and strengthen your muscles is a worthy objective.

All these things and many more should be on top of your mind when you are feeling that going to the gym is starting to be a rigorous chore that you must do. If you forget all these important fitness goals, you will eventually stop going to the gym. Just remember, you can only sustain good health if you exercise consistently.

Staying Happy at the Gym

Here are some tips on how you can enjoy your workout time at the gym:

Don’t fall into the trap of looking at your packed schedule and seeing that you’ve only got 10 minutes to spare that you shouldn’t bother completing your workout.

So, rather than automatically doing the motions of a 30 minute workout, why not use a timer in determining the time you need to spend in each individual phase of your workout?

It also doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to put in 30 minutes just to get the results that you want. There are also a number of health benefits in performing three minutes of high intensity exercises.

This fact is confirmed by a study which revealed that, 3 minutes of intense exercises, if done as a part of a 30 minute workout for one week, will result in considerable health improvement.

Therefore, if you only have 10 minutes to spare, you can choose to run on the treadmill, or push the pedal of the stationary bike. Just as little as 5 minutes intense exercise each day on a consistent basis will get you back on track.

Do Your Exercises Alternately

When was the last time you went outside your workout mode? If you have not done this lately, perhaps it’s time for you to try something new. Just like the warm feeling you get when you meet someone new, you will also feel the same warmth when you try some moves that are not part of your normal workout routine.

Try some exercise moves that you feel are more fun to do. The point is: if you don’t allow yourself to be tied up in one thing, you will keep that excitement going for a long time.

You are Only Human

When the doldrums set in, it is time to remind yourself that you are only human. Despondency, discouragement and frustration are experienced by everybody. It is how a person reacts to these feelings that define their character.

In other words, you are not alone in this. Every gym member has experienced such things. Knowing this will egg you to continue working out even if the going gets tough. Make sure to stop by your local gym such as XSport Fitness or Orange Theory Fitness to begin your new life’s journey.
