Being Deskbound Undermines your Gym Time

It may sound ironic but did you know that your inactivity during office hours is undermining your gym workouts? No amount of time spent on the gym can possibly reverse the adverse effects of sitting all day in front of your computer, your eyes glued to the screen while your butts are glued to your office chair.

Various studies showed that even if you religiously keep up with your gym commitments at LA Fitness or everywhere else, the heath hazards you are exposed to are the same if you will not spice up your office time with some activity.

HEALTH AND INJURY RISKS

We all know that a sedentary lifestyle is detrimental to your heart’s health. Believe it or not, it’s just one of the many risks you might be exposing yourself to if you continue to being deskbound for long hours workweek after every workweek.

Risk of injuries is also rampant if you refuse to divide long office hours with frequent but short work breaks. For one, you can get a condition called shoulder impingement by keeping your fingers on the keyboards all the time. For another, you become a top candidate for bad posture if your back is always under pressure.

WORKING OUT AT WORK

The good news is, there is very little requirement to help stunt this fitness blunder. In fact, standing alone easy does it. What more if you can beef up your body’s activity with some discreet exercises, which would not require you to move from your place and let everyone in the office know that you are working out.

The space beneath your desk offers enough legroom for a leg raise and similar exercises that will help strengthen your lower body. Learn how to maximize the amount of space that you have available and use it to give your muscles and joints a roundabout.

On top of little activities here and there that you can perform while at work, keep following that training program you do regularly. That is valuable to your overall wellbeing. Once you manage increasing your body’s activity throughout the day at the office, you will be able to get more out of your gym times. Studies showed that taking work breaks and lifting yourself up from sitting all day is not only helpful for your health but can also boost your productivity many times over. That is quite an attractive deal, isn’t it?
