Do you easily get tired even while doing not-so-rigorous physical activities? Getting easily tired could be an indication that there is something wrong with your health. But don’t get too hasty in judging yourself.
Perhaps you are only doing things that do not promote strength and stamina. Did you know that there are things that you might be doing that cause you to be weak? You need to examine yourself if there are things that you practice every day that results in sluggishness and general weakness.
Here are 14 things that you need to avoid if you want to be stronger and have greater stamina in doing physical activities.
1. Drink plenty of water.
Since childhood, you have always been told to drink 8 glasses of water each day. But as you grow older, you acquired more sophisticated taste so that water does not appeal to you anymore. The result: you tire easily.
Amy Goodson, an RD and a dietician from Texas Health Ben Hogan Sports Medicine says that even as little as 2 per cent normal fluid loss will result in significant loss on your energy levels.
Dehydration reduces your blood volume, making the blood thicker says Goodson. Thus your heart pumps less efficiently, lowering the speed by which oxygen and nutrients reach your organs and muscles. Now, you know why you need to drink much water every day.
2. Don’t skip breakfast.
Your body needs fuel that will energize your system as you do physical work. Therefore, going to work without first taking your breakfast is a sure thing for you to get tired easily since you don’t have any fuel to sustain your physical activities.
The food that you ate last night kept your blood pumping and oxygen flowing inside your body. As you wake up in the morning, you need to refuel your energy so that your bodily systems can go on doing their work.
Don’t be like the driver who tries to run the engine of his car when it already ran out of fuel.
3. Put plenty of iron in your diet.
Lack of iron in your system will result in sluggishness, irritability, lack of concentration and weakness. This will cause you to get easily tired because you only have a small amount of oxygen going to your muscles and cells.
Foods rich in iron are kidney beans, dark green leafy vegetables, eggs, lean meat, nuts, peanut butter and tofu.
Persistent iron deficiency may be caused by an underlying problem. If you found that you have this condition, you should see your doctor.
4. Don’t skip exercise just because you are feeling tired.
Doing regular exercises boosts your strength and endurance. It helps to make your cardiovascular system operate more efficiently. Therefore, skipping your exercise just because you feel you are not up to it will work against you.
If you will enroll in a gym such as Fitness 19 or UFC Gym, it will give you an added impetus to continue your workouts even if you are feeling low. You won’t want to waste your hard-earned money just because you are feeling lazy.
5. Eat more nutritious foods rather than junk foods.
Foods that are grown organically and not commercially processed are what you need if you want to be more energetic and vigorous. But if you continually consume processed foods, you will eventually reap negative results because they don’t have much to offer in terms of nutrition and health.
It doesn’t mean that you avoid fast food chains like the plague. What it means is that your regular diet must be composed of foods that are proven nutritious, whole and fresh.
6. Throw your worries out the window.
But don’t make mountains of out molehills. It will break your spirit and make you constantly watch out for “dangerous” things or situations that actually do not happen. Just maintain a positive outlook in life and everything will fall into place.
7. Don’t drink too much coffee during the day.
More than that will block the adenosine in your body. This is a byproduct of your active cells that drives you to sleep as it accumulates. So, if you drink too much coffee, it will reduce your sleeping hours and by morning, you won’t get your required hours of rest. Thus you will feel sluggish during the day.
